I was inspired by The skillful huntsman, a book from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. The sketches I did turned into science fiction fantasy themes including a tulip shaped building, a unicorn pup and bird hats. I am planning to turn the sketches into a finished collection for wall art, greeting cards and add repeating patterns.
I got to go to the Art Center for an illustration class when I lived in Long Beach, CA and was studying oil and acrylic painting at Long Beach City College years after I graduated from art school with a degree in illustration. I had never really gotten to paint with acrylics and oil paints on cnvas or panels until then. For illustration I had always used watercolor, pen and ink and later digital resources like Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
I am from Northern California and moved to the Los Angeles area to perform in a Salsa dance group. I was dancing almost every day and teaching a bit as well. It was a fun but wild time. After a while the fast pace and traffic was too much to take. I was happy to move back to the more sedate town of Palo Alto.
